Don’t Know Successful People? Try This.

“You’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” — Jim Rohn.

Have you heard this quote before?

Yes, no? Maybe so?

The idea of this saying is that we are a reflection of the company we keep. With this being the case, if you aspire to big things like wealth, fame, acclaim, or skill, you should strive to hang out with high-performance individuals with these attributes.

This quote has haunted me for years, echoing around in my mind.

Why?

Because simply put, I don’t know highly successful people.

A couple of years ago, I decided to tackle this dilemma head-on. Since I didn’t have outstanding people in my daily life, I decided to make a change.

Here’s how I reshaped my inner circle:

Books

In 2020, I read Mamba Mentality. I’ve never been a Lakers fan; to this day, I’m still not. However, reading the words of Kobe Bryant’s mentality to chase excellence in his profession was an insightful experience.

I may not be in the sports world. Yet, I relate to competition with myself and pushing beyond my personal limitations.
